Your practice, your data.

Last updated 31 October 2026

The short version

Your audio is analysed on your device and never uploaded. We store small practice summaries (tempo, accuracy, timing error, minutes) so your history follows your account. You can export everything or delete your account at any time from Settings.

What we collect

  • Account: email address, display name, and sign-in method (email, email link or Google), through Firebase Authentication.
  • Practice summaries: for each set, the exercise, tempo, notes expected and matched, timing error and spread, the clean result and its confidence. Raw note events are not stored.
  • Settings and plans: your goal, level, daily minutes, handedness, goals, journal entries and weekly reports.
  • Device calibration: the input's name, its measured latency and noise floor, so scores can be trusted.
  • Optional: a public league profile (display name and weekly points) if you join leagues, and studio summaries if you join a teacher's studio.

What we never collect

  • Audio from your microphone. Analysis happens in your browser.
  • Opt-in recordings for then-vs-now comparisons. They stay in this browser only.
  • Your practice data in analytics. Analytics (if enabled) counts anonymous product events only, and only after you agree.

Where it lives

Data is kept first in your browser (IndexedDB) and mirrored to Google Cloud Firestore under your account, protected by security rules that only let you read and write your own records. Teachers can read only the summaries of students who joined their studio and consented.

AI features

Weekly summaries and coach answers can be written by an AI model from a packet of numbers about your practice, never from audio. If you add your own API key, it is stored only in this browser and sent only to that provider. Every number in AI text is checked against your data before it is shown.

Your rights

Under the GDPR and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act you can access, correct, export and delete your data, and withdraw consent. Use Settings → Data to export a complete copy or delete your account; deletion removes your cloud records immediately and your local database from this browser. For anything else, email hello@fretmetric.com.

Age

Fretmetric is for adults: you must confirm you are 18 or over to create an account. Access for younger students will come only through teacher studios with verifiable parental consent.
